Patrick Henry Building

An arc flash hazard assessment was completed for a 258,000 sq ft, 10 story building, which included a basement and sub-basement. The Patrick Henry Building is on the National Register of Historic Places under its former name of Virginia State Library. Project scope included calculating the amount of incident energy that could be available, and determining the PPE level required, at each piece of equipment during an arc flash. A report was provided to document calculation results as well as recommended modifications for reducing the amount of incident energy. Protective warning labels were applied to each piece of equipment.
